ELECTRIC VACUUM PUMP

Purpose

  • The electric vacuum pump ensures vacuum required for braking force to compensate for the decrease in intake manifold vacuum applied to the power brake unit caused by the retard intake valve closing.

Functions

  • The electric vacuum pump produces and supplies vacuum to the power brake unit based on the signals from the pump control unit.

  • The electric vacuum pump reduces power consumption with the adoption of an on demand drive that produces vacuum with the motor only when necessary.

Construction/Operation

Block Diagram

  • The electric vacuum pump is connected to the brake booster with the vacuum hose.

  • When the motor in the electric vacuum pump rotates according to the electric vacuum pump control unit control signal, the vane in the vacuum pump rotates together with the motor and vacuum is generated by expanding the vacuum chamber.
