Construction, Operation

  • For the three-point seat belt, the seat belt is secured to the drum in the retractor and wrapped.

  • The seat belt is pulled out or retrieved by the rotation of the drum to adjust the length of the seat belt.

Load limiter
  • When a certain amount of force is applied to the seat belt by an occupant moving forward by inertia force after the pre-tensioner seat belt operates, the locking base in the retractor is unlocked, the seat belt pulls out to mediate the pressure of the seat belt against the occupant.

ELR (Emergency Locking Retractor)
  • If a sudden force is applied to a seat belt by an occupant moving forward by inertia force due to a vehicle collision or sudden braking, the locking base in the retractor is locked to prevent (lock) the seat belt from being pulled out.

ALR (Automatic Locking Retractor)
  • When the seat belt is pulled out and fastened, the ALR locks the seat belt at that length and it cannot be pulled out any more.

  • The ALR is mainly used for installing a child-restraint.

Pre-tensioner seat belt
  • Refer to [PRE-TENSIONER SEAT BELT]. (See PRE-TENSIONER SEAT BELT [STANDARD DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].) (See PRE-TENSIONER SEAT BELT [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)

Lap pre-tensioner seat belt
  • Refer to [LAP PRE-TENSIONER SEAT BELT [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM]]. (See LAP PRE-TENSIONER SEAT BELT [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)
