BASIC POWER WINDOW SYSTEM INSPECTION [POWER WINDOW SYSTEM]

Manual Open/close Function Inspection

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

1

  • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).

  • Operate the power window using the manual open/close function on the power window main switch.

  • Does the power window operate properly?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

  • Inspect the power window main switch, power window motor and the wiring harness.

  • Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

    (See POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

    (See POWER WINDOW REGULATOR DISASSEMBLY/ASSEMBLY.)

  • Operate the power window using the manual open/close function on the power window sub switch.

  • Does the power window operate properly?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

  • Inspect the power window sub switch and the wiring harness.

    (See POWER WINDOW SUBSWITCH INSPECTION.)

  • Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

    (See POWER WINDOW SUBSWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

  • Turn the power-cut switch off (contact point: closed).

  • Does the door glass other than driver’s door glass operate?

Yes

  • There is a malfunction in the power-cut switch.

  • Replace the power window main switch.

    (See POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

No

  • Manual open/close function is normal.

  • Perform the auto open function inspection.

    (See Auto Open Function Inspection.)

Auto Open Function Inspection

Driver-side

STEP

INSPECTION

ACTION

  • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).

  • Operate the power window using the auto open function on the power window main switch.

  • Does the power window operate properly?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

    If the power window automatically opens during the closing operation:
  • Go to DOOR GLASS REVERSE OPENS DURING MANUAL-CLOSE OPERATION (MIS REVERSE OPEN) [POWER WINDOW SYSTEM].

    Others:
  • Go to DRIVER-SIDE DOOR GLASS CAN BE OPERATED MANUALLY BUT CANNOT BE OPERATED AUTOMATICALLY [POWER WINDOW SYSTEM].

  • Operate the power window main switch to the close position while the power window is opening.

  • Does the power window operation stop?

Yes

  • Auto open function is normal.

  • Perform the IG-OFF timer function inspection.

No

  • Inspect the power window main switch, power window motor and the wiring harness.

    (See POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH INSPECTION.)

    (See POWER WINDOW MOTOR INSPECTION.)

  • Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

    (See POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Passenger-side

  • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).

  • Operate the power window using the auto open function on the power window sub switch.

  • Does the power window operate properly?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

    If the power window automatically opens during the closing operation:
  • Go to DOOR GLASS REVERSE OPENS DURING MANUAL-CLOSE OPERATION (MIS REVERSE OPEN) [POWER WINDOW SYSTEM].

    Others:
  • Go to PASSENGER-SIDE DOOR GLASS CAN BE OPERATED MANUALLY BUT CANNOT BE OPERATED AUTOMATICALLY [POWER WINDOW SYSTEM].

  • Operate the power window sub switch to the close position while the power window is opening.

  • Does the power window operation stop?

Yes

  • Auto open function is normal.

  • Perform the IG-OFF timer function inspection.

No

  • Inspect the power window sub switch, power window motor and the wiring harness.

IG-OFF Timer Function Inspection

Driver-side

  • Switch the ignition from ON (engine off or on) to off.

  • Operate the power window main switch within 40 s after switching the ignition to off.

  • Does the power window operate?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

  • Inspect the power window main switch, power window motor and the wiring harness.

  • Repair or replace malfunctioning parts.

    (See POWER WINDOW MAIN SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
