FUEL SHUT-OFF VALVE [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]

Purpose, function

  • Prevents fuel from flowing to the charcoal canister during tight turns or vehicle rollover.

  • Releases evaporative gas to the charcoal canister.

  • While refueling, the fuel shut-off valve closes to prevent a fuel overflow.

Construction

  • The fuel shut-off valve is built into the fuel tank.

  • The fuel shut-off valve consists of a float, spring, and valve.

Operation

  • When the amount of fuel is high, the valve is closed by the ascending force of the float.

  • When the amount of fuel is low, the valve opens under the float’s own weight to release evaporative gas to the charcoal canister.

  • During sudden cornering or vehicle rollover, the valve is closed by the ascending force of the float and spring force.
