INAPPROPRIATE OPERATION AND CONTROL RECORD 0x30 (TEMPERATURE RESTRICTION CONTROL) [PCM (SKYACTIV-G 2.0)]

CAUTION:

The temperature restriction control is to prevent part damage. It is not a control which operates when a malfunction occurs. Therefore, do not replace the part.

Outline

  • If the driver continues to depress the accelerator pedal accidentally while asleep with the vehicle stopped and the engine running, the continuous high engine speed causes the temperature of the engine and exhaust system parts to increase. If the temperature of the engine and exhaust system parts increases, it may cause part damage.

    To prevent this, the PCM performs the temperature restriction control when the following operation conditions are met.

Determination conditions

  • When any of the following condition is met:

    • Engine coolant temperature continuously reaches high temperature range

    • Engine speed continuously reaches high engine speed range

      NOTE:

      • Determination period is extended as engine speed lowers

Preconditions

  • All of the following conditions are met:

    • Engine coolant temperature: 40 °C {104 °F} or more

    • While vehicle is stopped

    • Shift lever position is neutral (MT)

    • Selector lever position is P or N position (AT)

    • Accelerator pedal is depressed

Protection Control

  • Limits the intake air amount.

  • Did the condition meet the operation conditions?

Yes

Explain to the customer that the vehicle is normal and the temperature restriction control was performed to protect the vehicle.

No

Go to the next step.

PURPOSE: VERIFY IF THERE IS ANY MALFUNCTION
  • Has any DTC or pending code been recorded?

Yes

Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

(See DTC TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-G 2.0)].)

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.
