C1031:64

Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

DETECTION CONDITION

  • Installation of tires with diameter different from standard is detected.

  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) set switch signal is continuously detected as on.

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION

  • Refer to “Fail-safe function table”. (See DTC TABLE [DSC HU/CM].)

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Mazda recommended standard tire outer diameters differ from installed tires

  • Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) set switch malfunction

  • DSC HU/CM malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

VERIFY DSC HU/CM DTC
  • Using the M-MDS, clear the DTC from the DSC HU/CM.

    (See CLEARING DTC [DSC HU/CM].)

  • Using the M-MDS, perform the DSC HU/CM DTC inspection.

    (See DTC INSPECTION [DSC HU/CM].)

  • Is the same DTC present?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Go to Step7.

INSPECT TPMS SET SWITCH
  • Inspect the TPMS set switch.

    (See TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM SET SWITCH INSPECTION.)

  • Is the TPMS set switch normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the TPMS set switch, then go to Step6.

(See TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM SET SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

VERIFY TIRE
  • Verify that the currently equipped tire type (size, supplier, and type) conform to the Mazda recommendation.

    (See WHEEL AND TIRE SPECIFICATION.)

  • Is the tire type as specified?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the tire, then go to Step5.

INSPECT TIRE PRESSURE
  • Inspect the tire pressure when the tires are cold.

    (See WHEEL AND TIRE SPECIFICATION.)

  • Is the pressure as specified?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Adjust the tire pressure to the specification when the tires are cold, then go to the next step.

INITIALIZE TPMS
  • Initialize the TPMS.

    (See TIRE PRESSURE MONITORING SYSTEM INITIALIZATION PROCEDURE.)

  • Is the initialization normally completed?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repeat the inspection from Step1

If the malfunction recurs, replace the DSC HU/CM, then go to the next step.

(See DSC HU/CM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
  • Using the M-MDS, clear the DTC from the DSC HU/CM.

    (See CLEARING DTC [DSC HU/CM].)

  • Using the M-MDS, perform the DSC HU/CM DTC inspection.

    (See DTC INSPECTION [DSC HU/CM].)

  • Is the same DTC present?

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step1

If the malfunction recurs, replace the DSC HU/CM, then go to the next step.

(See DSC HU/CM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY NO DTC IS PRESENT
  • Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

(See DTC TABLE [DSC HU/CM].)

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.
