ABS wheel-speed sensor

DETECTION CONDITION

  • ABS wheel-speed sensor or sensor rotor malfunction is detected.

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION

  • Refer to “Fail-safe function table”. (See DTC TABLE [DSC HU/CM].)

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • Tires of different diameters between front and rear wheels are installed

  • ABS sensor rotor malfunction (missing sensor rotor teeth)

  • Excessive clearance between ABS wheel-speed sensor and sensor rotor

  • DSC HU/CM malfunction

INSPECT ABS WHEEL-SPEED SENSOR DATA MONITOR
  • Using the M-MDS, perform the PID inspection for ABS wheel-speed sensors.

    (See PID/DATA MONITOR INSPECTION [DSC HU/CM].)

  • Are the monitoring values of all the wheels nearly the same when vehicle is driven?

Yes

Go to Step5.

No

Go to the next step.

INSPECT TIRE AND TIRE PRESSURE
  • Inspect tire size and tire pressure.

    (See WHEEL AND TIRE SPECIFICATION.)

  • Is the tire of the specified size and air pressure?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace with a specified tire or adjust the air pressure, then go to Step5.

VISUALLY INSPECT ABS SENSOR ROTOR
  • Visually inspect the ABS sensor rotors for foreign material adhering or improper installation.

  • Are the ABS sensor rotors normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the malfunction part, then go to Step5.

INSPECT CLEARANCE BETWEEN ABS SENSOR ROTOR AND ABS WHEEL-SPEED SENSOR
  • Measure the clearance between ABS sensor rotors and ABS wheel-speed sensors.

    (See FRONT ABS WHEEL-SPEED SENSOR INSPECTION.)

    (See REAR ABS WHEEL-SPEED SENSOR INSPECTION.)

  • Are the clearances normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the malfunction part, then go to the next step.

VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
  • Using the M-MDS, clear the DTC from the DSC HU/CM.

    (See CLEARING DTC [DSC HU/CM].)

  • Using the M-MDS, perform the DSC HU/CM DTC inspection.

    (See DTC INSPECTION [DSC HU/CM].)

  • Is the same DTC present?

Yes

Repeat the inspection from Step1.

If the malfunction recurs, replace the DSC HU/CM, then go to the next step.

(See DSC HU/CM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY NO DTC IS PRESENT
  • Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

(See DTC TABLE [DSC HU/CM].)

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.
