DTC U0442:00

CAN communication: Error signal received from PCM

DETECTION CONDITION

  • Throttle opening signal error

    • Vehicle condition: TCM communication normal

    • Status: Detects throttle opening angle signal error

    • Period: Confirmed 1 time in 0.5 s or more

  • Accelerator opening angle signal error

    • Vehicle condition: TCM communication normal

    • Status: Detects accelerator opening angle signal error

    • Period: Confirmed 1 time in 0.5 s or more

  • Engine torque signal error

    • Vehicle condition: TCM communication normal

    • Status: Detects engine torque signal error

    • Period: Confirmed 1 time in 0.5 s or more

  • Engine speed signal error

    • Vehicle condition: TCM communication normal

    • Status: Detects engine speed signal error

    • Period: Confirmed 1 time in 0.5 s or more

  • Engine coolant temperature signal error

    • Vehicle condition: TCM communication normal

    • Status: Detects engine coolant signal error

    • Period: Confirmed 1 time in 0.5 s or more

  • Detects engine misfire

    • Vehicle condition: TCM communication normal

    • Status: Detects engine misfire determination signal

    • Period: Confirmed 1 time

FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION

  • Throttle opening signal error

    • Inhibits learning control.

    • Inhibits direct mode.

    • Inhibits AAS mode.

    • Inhibits the TCC control and slip control.

    • Inhibits 5GR and 6GR.

    • Inhibits the neutral control.

    • Inhibits the slope control.

  • Accelerator opening angle signal error

    • Inhibits learning control.

    • Inhibits direct mode.

    • Inhibits AAS mode.

    • Inhibits the TCC control and slip control.

    • Inhibits 5GR and 6GR.

    • Inhibits the neutral control.

    • Inhibits the slope control.

  • Engine torque signal error

    • Inhibits learning control.

    • Inhibits AAS mode.

    • Inhibits slip control.

    • Inhibits 5GR and 6GR.

    • Inhibits the slope control.

  • Engine speed signal error

    • Inhibits learning control.

    • Inhibits direct mode.

    • Inhibits AAS mode.

    • Inhibits the TCC control and slip control.

    • Inhibits 5GR and 6GR.

    • Inhibits the neutral control.

    • Inhibits the slope control.

  • Engine coolant temperature signal error

    • Performs control with the ATF temperature of 80 °C {176 °F}.

    • Inhibits AAS mode.

    • Inhibits slip control.

    • Inhibits the neutral control.

    • Inhibits the slope control.

  • Detects engine misfire

    • Inhibits learning control.

    • Inhibits direct mode.

    • Inhibits AAS mode.

    • Inhibits the TCC control and slip control.

    • Inhibits 5GR and 6GR.

    • Inhibits the slope control.

POSSIBLE CAUSE

  • PCM DTC is stored.

STEP

INSPECTION

VERIFY RELATED REPAIR INFORMATION AVAILABILITY
  • Verify related Service Bulletins and/or on-line repair information availability.

  • Is any related repair information available?

Yes

Perform repair or diagnosis according to the available repair information.

  • If the vehicle is not repaired, go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY PCM DTC
  • Perform the PCM DTC inspection using the M-MDS.

    (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC TEST [PCM (SKYACTIV-G 2.0)].)

  • Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

(See DTC TABLE [PCM (SKYACTIV-G 2.0)].)

No

Go to the next step.

VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
  • Clear the DTC using the M-MDS.

    (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].)

  • Perform the following procedure to ensure that the DTC has been resolved:

    • Start the engine and warm it up completely.

    • Drive the vehicle for a while under the following conditions:

      • Selector lever position: D position

  • Perform the DTC inspection using the M-MDS.

    (See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC INSPECTION [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].)

  • Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Go to the applicable DTC inspection.

(See ON-BOARD DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM DTC TABLE [TCM (SJ6A-EL)].)

No

DTC troubleshooting completed.
