HOOD ADJUSTMENT

1. Measure the clearance and height difference between the hood and the front bumper.

    Standard clearance
  • a: 1.7—5.3 mm {0.07—0.20 in}

  • b: –2.0—2.0 mm {–0.078—0.078 in}

  • If the measured value is not within the standard clearance, adjust the clearance using the following procedure.

    • Loosen the hood hinge installation bolts, move the hood, and adjust the installation position. (See HOOD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

    • Tighten the hood hinge installation bolts. (See HOOD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

    • Loosen the hood latch installation bolts, and move the hood latch to adjust the clearance between the hood and the front bumper. (See HOOD LATCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

    • Tighten the hood latch installation bolts. (See HOOD LATCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

    • Turn the stop rubber to adjust the differences in height of the hood.

    • Verify that the clearances and differences in height of the hood and the front bumper are within the standard clearance.

2. Measure the clearance and height difference between the hood and the front fender panel.

    Standard clearance
  • a: 2.8—4.8 mm {0.12—0.18 in}

  • b: –1.1—0.9 mm {–0.04—0.03 in}

  • If the measured value is not within the standard clearance, adjust the clearance using the following procedure.

    • Loosen the hood hinge installation bolts, move the hood, and adjust the installation position. (See HOOD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

    • Tighten the hood hinge installation bolts. (See HOOD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

    • Turn the stop rubber to adjust the differences in height of the hood.

    • Verify that the hood opens/closes smoothly.

      • If the hood does not open/close smoothly, adjust the hood latch installation position. (See HOOD LATCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

    • Verify that the clearances and differences in height of the hood and the front fender panel are within the standard clearance.
