TRANSMISSION RANGE (TR) SWITCH

Purpose/Function

  • The transmission range (TR) switch detects the position of the selector lever and sends information on which range is selected in the automatic transmission to the TCM.

  • Its functions are as follows:

    • Enables engine starting only in P or N positions

    • Used as shifting control signals

Construction/Operation

  • The manual shaft penetrates the TR switch which is installed to the transmission case.

  • The TR switch includes a starter circuit and position circuit.

  • When the selector lever is operated, the TR switch swiches internal circuits according to the manual shaft rotetion
