POWER WINDOW REGULATOR

Purpose

  • The power window regulator moves the carrier plate up and down to open/close the door glass using the rotation force transmitted from the power window motor.

Function

  • The power window regulator transmits the rotation force from the power window motor to the inner wire and moves the carrier plate up and down.

Wire elongation eliminating function
  • By adopting a elongation eliminating mechanism to the power window regulator, the wire length is maintained properly to prevent slowing the operation.

Construction

  • The inner wire is assembled to the side of the regulator guide and wrapped around the drum housing.

  • The carrier plate is fixed with the inner wire pinched.

Wire elongation eliminating mechanism
  • A ratchet-type elongation eliminating mechanism is built into the power window regulator.

  • If the wire slackens due to deterioration over time, load is applied to the wire elongation eliminating mechanism. If a certain load or more is applied to the wire elongation eliminating mechanism, the internal ratchet mechanism moves (total of five increments) one increment (5 mm {0.2 in}) to extend the wire elongation eliminating mechanism. Due to this, the wire is stiffened to reduce the time to roll up excess wire.

Operation

1. When the drum housing of the power window regulator receives the rotation force from the power window motor, it rotates in the same rotation direction as the power window motor.
2. When the drum housing rotates, the inner wire is pulled in the direction the drum housing rotates.

3. The carrier plate moves up and down according to the direction the inner wire is pulled.

Fail-safe

  • Not applicable
