VACUUM LINE INSPECTION

Between Intake Manifold and Vacuum Pipe

1. Remove the vacuum hose. (See VACUUM HOSE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2. Verify that air can be blown from the vacuum pipe side (power brake unit side) of the vacuum hose towards the intake manifold side, and that air cannot be blown in the opposite direction.

  • If there is any malfunction of the inner check valve, replace it together with the vacuum hose as a single unit. (See VACUUM HOSE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Between Electric Vacuum Pump and Vacuum Pipe

1. Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
2. Turn the steering wheel to the right until it locks.
3. Switch the ignition off.
4. DIsconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
5. Remove the washer tank. (See WASHER TANK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6. Remove the front mudguard No.1 and front deflector as a single unit. (See FRONT MUDGUARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
7. Remove the vacuum hose. (See VACUUM HOSE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
8. Verify that air can be blown from the vacuum pipe side (power brake unit side) of the vacuum hose towards the electric vacuum pump side, and that air cannot be blown in the opposite direction.

  • If there is any malfunction of the inner check valve, replace it together with the vacuum hose as a single unit. (See VACUUM HOSE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
