SEAT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

WARNING:

  • Handling a seat equipped with a side air bag improperly can accidentally operate (deploy) the air bag, which may seriously injure you. Read the service warnings/cautions in the Workshop Manual before handling the seat (side air bag integrated). (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)   • If the sliding mechanisms on both sides are not locked after assembling the seat, the seat will operate accidentally while the vehicle is driven, which could result in serious injury. After assembling the seat, shake it up and down and verify that the sliding mechanism on the both sides are locked.

CAUTION:

  • If the slider lever is operated after removing the seat, the slider may move by the force of the spring which assists in the slide recoil and cause damage to parts. After removing the seat, operate the slider lever being careful of the slider.

  • Verify that there are no malfunctions in the forward/back slide of the seat and in the adjuster unit after installing a seat.

  • When performing the procedure with a seat removed from the vehicle, perform the procedure on a clean cloth so as not to damage or dirty the seat.

NOTE:

  • When removing the seat from the vehicle or putting it back in, it can be performed smoothly by removing the head restraint.

1. Switch the ignition off.
2. Disconnect the negative battery cable and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
3. Slide the lock in the direction of arrow (1) shown in the figure, and while pressing the tab in the direction of arrow (2), disconnect the connector in the direction of arrow (3).

4. Slide the seat to the positions where the bolts shown in the figure can be removed.

5. Remove the bolts. (See Bolt Installation Note.)
6. Slide the seat to the positions where the bolts shown in the figure can be removed.

7. Remove the bolts. (See Bolt Installation Note.)
8. Remove the seat.
9. Install in the reverse order of removal.
10. When the passenger's seat is removed, perform the DTC inspection for the SAS control module using the M-MDS and verify that no DTCs are displayed. (See DTC INSPECTION [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)].)

NOTE:

  • If any DTCs are displayed, perform malfunction repair referring to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [SAS CONTROL MODULE (TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM)].)

11. When the passenger's seat is replaced with a new one, perform the occupant classification sensor calibration using the M-MDS. (See OCCUPANT CLASSIFICATION SENSOR CALIBRATION [TWO-STEP DEPLOYMENT CONTROL SYSTEM].)

Bolt Installation Note

1. Install the bolts in the order shown in the figure.
