WIPER MOTOR INSPECTION

Wiper Motor Inspection

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
2. Remove the wiper arm and blade. (See WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
3. Remove the cowl grille. (See COWL GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4. Disconnect the connector.

5. Apply battery positive voltage and connect the ground to the wiper motor terminals, and then verify the operation condition.

  • If the wiper motor does not operate as indicated in the table, replace the wiper motor. (See WIPER MOTOR AND LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Auto-stop Operation Inspection

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
2. Remove the wiper arm and blade. (See WIPER ARM AND BLADE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
3. Remove the cowl grille. (See COWL GRILLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4. Disconnect the connector.

5. Connect the battery voltage to wiper motor terminal A, connect the ground to terminal C, and operate the wiper motor at low speed.

6. Disconnect the battery voltage from terminal A during wiper low operation, and stop the wiper motor mid-way.
7. Connect wiper motor terminals A and D using a jumper wire.

8. Connect the battery positive voltage to wiper motor terminal E.
9. Verify that the wipers stop at the park position as a result of the auto-stop operating.
  • If the wipers do not stop at the park position, replace the wiper motor. (See WIPER MOTOR AND LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
