ACCELERATOR PEDAL, KICKDOWN SWITCH [SKYACTIV-G 2.0]

Purpose, Function

    Accelerator pedal
  • The driver's intention to start/accelerate can be transmitted by the accelerator pedal depression amount. The engine output required by the driver is proportional to the pedal operation amount.

  • The accelerator pedal position sensor built into the accelerator pedal detects the accelerator pedal opening angle and transmits it to the PCM.

    Kickdown switch (AT)
  • The kickdown switch gives a feel of resistance as an approximate indication for a kickdown operation.

Construction

  • The accelerator pedal has a built-in accelerator pedal position sensor and a kickdown switch (AT).

  • For the APP sensor, refer to CONTROL SYSTEM. (See ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION (APP) SENSOR [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)

Kickdown switch (AT)
  • Resistance can be felt while the accelerator pedal is being depressed. The accelerator pedal depression amount reaches 100% by further depressing the pedal. This resistance is an approximate indication of the kickdown.

  • Because the driver can determine the accelerator pedal depression amount from the change in the pedal depression amount (change in depression force), kickdown control is facilitated.

  • The kickdown switch is only an approximate indication of the kickdown. An electrical signal is not sent/received by the kickdown switch.
