POWER WINDOW CONTROL MODULE/POWER OUTER MIRROR CONTROL MODULE

Purpose

  • The power window control module controls the power window system based on the following information.

    • Power window main switch operation signal

    • Power window subswitch operation signal

    • Pulse from power window motor

  • The power window control module performs control of the door interlock open/close based on the switch ON/OFF signal from the door latch switch.

  • The power window control module performs control of the convertible-top interlock open based on the convertible-top open/close signal from the convertible top switch and top lock switch.

  • The power outer mirror control module controls the power outer mirror system based on the power window main switch operation signal.

Function

  • When the power window control module receives the following signals, it turns on/off the open/close relay.

    • Power window main switch operation signal

    • Power window subswitch operation signal

    • Switch ON/OFF signal from door latch switch

  • When the power window control module receives the following signals, the open relay turns on/off.

    • Convertible-top open signal

    • Convertible-top close signal

  • The power window control module detects the power window motor operation status based on the pulse from the power window motor.

  • The power outer mirror control module operates left-right and up-down motors for the power outer mirror based on the power window main switch operation signal.

Construction

  • The power window control module is built into the power window main switch and power window subswitch.

  • The power outer mirror control module is built into the power window main switch.

Operation

    Power window control module
  • The power window control module detects the motor rotation speed and rotation direction based on pulse 1 and 2 from the power window motor.

  • When all of the following conditions are met, the power window control module turns the open relay or close relay for the power window motor on/off.

    • When door is opened
    • Door glass is placed at position less than 6.5 mm {0.6 in} from fully-closed position

    • Recording of door glass fully-closed position is completed

    • ON signal is received from door latch switch

      When door is closed
    • Door interlock open open/close function is operating

    • OFF signal is received from door latch switch

  • When all of the following conditions are met, the power window control module turns the open relay for the power window motor on/off.

    • When convertible-top is opened
    • Door glass is placed at position less than 140 mm {5.51 in} from fully-closed position

    • Recording of door glass fully-closed position is completed

    • Convertible-top open signal is received from top lock switch

      When convertible-top is closed
    • Door glass is placed at position less than 140 mm {5.51 in} from fully-closed position

    • Recording of door glass fully-closed position is completed

    • Convertible-top close signal is received from convertible-top switch

    Power outer mirror control module
  • For the power outer mirror control module operation, refer to the [POWER OUTER MIRROR SYSTEM]. (See POWER OUTER MIRROR SYSTEM.)

Fail-safe

  • When the power window control module detects a pulse (Hall effect switch) error, it switches the power window system to fail-safe mode to prevent incorrect operation.

Malfunction condition

Ignition is switched ON (engine off or on)

Ignition is switched off

Recovery condition

Power window control module detected pulse 1 error (for pinching and door glass position detection) stop malfunction

  • During close or open operation, pulse 2 cannot be detected while pulse 1 is detected

    Driver's side
  • Auto operation is prohibited (Manual operation is enabled)

  • Operation of front passenger's side power window main switch is prohibited

    Passenger's side
  • Auto operation is prohibited (Manual operation is enabled)

Auto and manual operations are prohibited

Pulse signals 1 and 2 are received normally during close operation, and lowering amount detected when window is fully closed and during automatic reverse operation

Power window control module detected pulse 2 error (for door glass direction detection) stop malfunction

  • During close or open operation, pulse 2 cannot be detected while pulse 1 is detected

Power window control module detected pulse signal error (inversion of pulse 1 and pulse 2 input signals or large phase deviation between pulses 1 and 2)

  • Difference detected between the direction detected by the signals of pulses 1 and 2, and the actual direction during close or open operation

Power window control module detected pulse 1 error (Non-return range lowering)

  • During close operation, pulse 1 signal from the power window motor detected more than set times even after the window reached the fully-closed position recorded by the power window control module.

Power window control module detected pulse 1 and 2 stop malfunction

  • Pulse signals 1 and 2 are not detected for 1 s after the open operation is started from the fully closed position
