REAR DIFFERENTIAL MOUNT RUBBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

CAUTION:

  • Performing the following procedures could cause an open circuit in the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness if it is pulled by mistake. Before servicing, disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor and set it aside so that the wiring harness will not be pulled by mistake.

1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
2. Remove the following parts:
a. Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
b. Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
c. Partition board (See PARTITION BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
d. Trunk side trim (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
e. Fuel-filler pipe protector (See FUEL-FILLER PIPE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)
3. Remove the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor from the hub support.

4. Remove the grommet and clip of the rear ABS wheel speed sensor wiring harness from the bracket and rear crossmember and set it aside so that it does not interfere with the servicing.
5. Remove the rear brake caliper component and suspend it in a place out of the way using a cable. (See REAR BRAKE (DISC) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

6. Remove the following parts:
a. Rear disc plate (See REAR BRAKE (DISC) REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
b. Rear shock absorber and coil spring (See REAR SHOCK ABSORBER AND COIL SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
7. Remove the auto leveling sensor and the auto leveling short cord as a single unit. (See AUTO LEVELING SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.) (See AUTO LEVELING SENSOR SHORT-CORD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
8. Remove the rear stabilizer component and the rear stabilizer control link as a single unit. (See REAR STABILIZER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
9. Remove the floor under cover. (See FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
10. Remove the rear parking cable bracket from the rear crossmember. (See REAR PARKING BRAKE CABLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
11. Remove the bolts.

12. Remove the member bracket. (With member bracket)
13. Remove the bolts.

14. Remove the tunnel member.
15. Remove the following parts:
a. Three way catalytic converter (TWC) (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].) (See TWC Installation Note.)
b. Propeller shaft (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
c. Power plant frame (See POWER PLANT FRAME REMOVAL [M66M-D].) (See POWER PLANT FRAME INSTALLATION [M66M-D].)
d. Rear crossmember component (See REAR CROSSMEMBER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
16. Remove in the order shown in the figure.
17. Install in the reverse order of removal.
18. Inspect the rear wheel alignment and adjust if necessary. (See REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT.)

Bolt Removal Note

1. Place alignment marks on the rear crossmember and rear differential mount rubber as shown in the figure before removing the bolts.

2. Remove the bolts.

Rear Differential Mount Rubber, Nut and Bolt Installation Note

CAUTION:

  • After loosening the nuts, tighten the rear differential stud bolts because they may loosen.

1. Tighten the rear differential stud bolts.

    Tightening torque
  • 15???25 N·m {1.6???2.5 kgf·m, 12???18 ft·lbf}

2. Install the rear differential mount rubber by aligning the alignment marks on the rear crossmember and rear differential mount rubber and temporarily tighten the nuts and bolts.

NOTE:

  • When newly replacing the rear differential mount rubber, place alignment marks on the new part in the same positions as the removed rear differential mount rubber.

3. Tighten the bolts completely.
    Tightening torque
  • 54???70 N·m {5.6???7.1 kgf·m, 40???51 ft·lbf}

4. Tighten the bolt completely.
    Tightening torque
  • 54???70 N·m {5.6???7.1 kgf·m, 40???51 ft·lbf}

TWC Installation Note

1. Remove the tunnel member temporarily.

2. Install the TWC. (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.0].)
