Diagnostic Procedure

Step

Inspection

Action

1

VERIFY BCM DTCs AGAIN
  • Clear the DTC for the BCM using the M-MDS.

    (See CLEARING DTC [BCM].)

  • Operate the turn switch to the RH position.

  • Retrieve the BCM DTCs using the M-MDS.

    (See DTC INSPECTION [BCM].)

  • Is the same DTC displayed?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Go to Step 15.

2

DETERMINE MALFUNCTIONING LIGHT
  • Operate the turn switch to the RH position.

  • Are there any lights among the following which do not flash?

    • Front turn light (RH)

    • Side turn light (RH)

    • Rear turn light (RH)

Yes

All lights do not flash:

  • Go to the next step.

Front turn light (RH) and side turn light (RH) does not flash:

  • Go to Step 4.

Rear turn light (RH) do not flash:

  • Go to Step 10.

No

Go to Step 14.

3

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Switch the ignition off.

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.

    (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

  • Disconnect the BCM connector.

  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.

  • Is the connector normal?

Yes

Go to Step 14.

No

Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 14.

4

VISUALLY INSPECT FRONT TURN LIGHT BULB (RH)
  • Visually inspect the front turn light bulb (RH).

  • Is the bulb normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the front turn light bulb (RH), then go to Step 14.

(See FRONT TURN LIGHT BULB REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

5

INSPECT FRONT COMBINATION LIGHT (RH) CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Switch the ignition off.

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.

    (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

  • Disconnect the front combination light (RH) connector.

  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.

  • Is the connector normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 14.

6

INSPECT SIDE TURN LIGHT (RH) CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Disconnect the side turn light (RH) connector.

  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.

  • Is the connector normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 14.

7

INSPECT SIDE TURN LIGHT BULB (RH)
  • Inspect the side turn light bulb (RH).

  • Is the side turn light bulb (RH) normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the side turn light (RH), then go to Step 14.

(See SIDE TURN LIGHT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

8

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Disconnect the BCM connector.

  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.

  • Is the connector normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 14.

9

INSPECT TURN LIGHT (RH) CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Verify that the front combination light (RH), side turn light (RH) and BCM connectors are disconnected.

  • Inspect for continuity between BCM terminal 3A (wiring harness-side) and body ground.

  • Is there continuity?

Yes

Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between the following terminals:

  • Front combination light (RH) terminal E—BCM terminal 3A

  • Side turn light (RH) terminal A—BCM terminal 3A

If there is a common connector:
  • Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to ground.

  • Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.

If there is no common connector:
  • Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to ground.

Go to Step 14.

No

Go to Step 14.

10

VISUALLY INSPECT REAR TURN LIGHT BULB (RH)
  • Visually inspect the rear turn light bulb (RH).

  • Is the rear turn light bulb (RH) normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Replace the rear turn light bulb (RH), then go to Step 14.

(See REAR TURN LIGHT BULB REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

11

INSPECT REAR COMBINATION LIGHT (RH) CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Switch the ignition off.

  • Disconnect the negative battery cable.

    (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

  • Disconnect the rear combination light (RH) connector.

  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.

  • Is the connector normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 14.

12

INSPECT BCM CONNECTOR CONDITION
  • Disconnect the BCM connector.

  • Inspect the connector engagement and connection condition and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.

  • Is the connector normal?

Yes

Go to the next step.

No

Repair or replace the connector, then go to Step 14.

13

INSPECT REAR TURN LIGHT (RH) CONTROL CIRCUIT FOR SHORT TO GROUND
  • Verify that the rear combination light (RH) and BCM connectors are disconnected.

  • Inspect for continuity between BCM terminal 1E (wiring harness-side) and body ground.

  • Is there continuity?

Yes

Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between rear combination light (RH) terminal A and BCM terminal 1E.

Go to the next step.

No

Go to the next step.

14

VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
  • Always reconnect all disconnected connectors.

  • Connect the negative battery cable.

    (See NEGATIVE BATTERY CABLE DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

  • Clear the DTC for the BCM using the M-MDS.
